This conference will showcase eminent young researchers in six areas of engineering research that will remain vital for at least the next fifteen years. The areas are:

• Advanced Materials & Nanotechnology-I
• Advanced Materials & Nanotechnology-II
• Modeling Simulation (Computational Science & Engineering & Logistics)
• Healthcare & Transportation Systems
• Sensors
• Energy & Environment

An important goal of the meeting will be to address how appropriate bridges may be built among diverse faculty from diverse institutions of higher education, and to help enhance the research personnel pool for the above areas that are drawn from underrepresented groups. The conference will be a one and one-half day event to be held on the campus of North Carolina A&T State University in the beautiful central North Carolina city of Greensboro. The attendees at the conference will include:

• Deans of the top engineering schools
• Corporate university research sponsors
• Federal and State research sponsors
• Leading young and established researchers in engineering
• Deans of engineering schools and early-career engineering faculty at historically-black colleges and universities
• Selected students from universities

Attendees will:

• Present their current research efforts
• Have the opportunity to build partnerships with other leaders in engineering
• Gain a better understanding of the “broader impact” merit criterion of engineering research
• Meet and hear from selected corporate and federal research sponsors
• Have the opportunity to propose new ideas for forging partnerships for engineering research
