Welcome!!
  Chairperson's Message

As chairperson I would first like to take the time to thank my ECE faculty, staff and students for their efforts in ensuring that we have a quality ECE program. The undergraduate and graduate enrollments have continued to increase and this is a clear indication of the quality of the work being done by the faculty and staff in fulfilling the educational needs of the students as they pursue ECE degrees in preparation for careers in the field of electrical and computer engineering.

Our departmental growth has required some departmental reorganization to allow us to serve the students, both prospective and current, as well as their parents, and alumni. We will continue to add faculty members and change the roles and responsibilities of the faculty and staff to meet the demands, challenges and opportunities of this growth.

The department is involved in a number of major projects that we are extremely excited about. We have added Computer Engineering as a degree program. The department continues to have outstanding faculty and student research projects and we are pursuing new research opportunities. The department is eagerly awaiting participation in the 2008 Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) South East Conference, National Engineers Week and the National Society of Black Engineers Conference to showcase our faculty and student accomplishment and to network with other engineers, educators and representatives from Corporate America and Government. It is a privilege to host visitors from all over the country. It gives us, as a whole, the chance to learn from one another and network. It also gives us, as a department, the opportunity to exhibit our pride in education.

  Overview

Our Mission

Is to educate our students with the knowledge and skills relevant to the practice of electrical engineering, to instill in them the desire for continuing education, and to maintain a supportive environment for the students, faculty and staff.

The Goal

Of the Undergraduate Program at North Carolina A&T State University is designed to graduate engineers with a knowledge foundation in the fundamental areas of electrical engineering which will permit them to gain employment in their profession or continue with graduate education. This is done by including throughout the curriculum experiences in the design process, functioning in teams, and in developing laboratory skills.
The BSEE Program Educational Objectives evolved from discussions within the Department of Electrical Engineering faculty, while maintaining a subordinate and supporting agreement with the University's, the College of Engineering’s, and the Department's Missions. These Program Objectives will be reviewed by discussions and surveys with the Department’s constituent groups at least every four years to determine if the objectives should be modified to meet the evolution of the electrical engineering career requirements. The five Program Educational Objectives of the BSEE program are:

1. To graduate electrical engineers with a knowledge foundation in the fundamental areas of electrical engineering which will permit them to gain employment in their profession or to continue with graduate education.

2. To include throughout the electrical engineering curriculum experiences in the design process, functioning in teams, and in developing laboratory skills

3. To provide curricular experiences in science, mathematics, the humanities, and other core requirements of the University.

4. To develop in our students the ability to communicate effectively.

5. To maintain the academic program standards to satisfy the requirements of accreditation.

The Master of Science Program in Electrical Engineering is designed to provide graduate level education for advances professional practice or for further graduate studies. The program is open to students with a bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline from an institution or recognized standing.

The Doctoral Program is the terminal degree with the Department of Electrical Engineering at North Carolina A&T State University. The education objectives of these programs include to foster research in electrical engineering for the benefit of North Carolina A&T State University, to provide the region with a full-time graduate electrical engineering program and to provide graduate level electrical engineering resource base to support electrical engineering activities in local and regional industry and government.
